I-HOUSE exhibit SPECS

FYI:



Shows generally run 7-8 weeks each with opening receptions on Wednesday evenings (vary according to I House theater schedule). 1 week installation period.


Video art plays on a loop during all public open hours of International House lobby.


One 20" flat CRT monitor on top of a metal IKEA cabinet with locking doors that houses DVD video player and gallery tools and materials.


Five 22" wide by approximately 98" tall panels for hanging limited wall work, such as framed photos or prints, of video stills or images and text related to the content of the videos screening. Track lighting on a dimmer is available and turned on during open hours by IHouse staff.

Below is the schedule time for meetings with me about your animation project.
ALSO, exhibition display & visual announcement folks - the following is due NEXT WEEK:

1. Final Poster Design ( James S is the contact) needed from all of you: a .TIFF still image from your video. Please arrange with James to get image to him prior to deadline.
include: place/name of exhibit/

2. 3-d mockup of exhibit space
Design wall arrangement - bring in visual design

3. WEBSITE: if we're doing this - please throw simple template together- how will viewer navigate the site? How will each artist be listed?

4. Press release- bring in final version. ALSO, include an email contact list of
all local places to send this to (signal, trentonian, etc)

animation formats

Project 3: EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION
Due March 31: Storyboard, footage and project work schedule - this is mandatory !!!!
Due April 7 : work-in-progress brought to class
Due April 14: final project critique

INTRO TO ANIMATION
methods:
  • inking & painting ( analog and digital)
  • objects (overhead & diorama)
  • cut-out (analog & digital)
  • rotoscoping
  • stop-motion
Create a 1-2 minute animation that reinterprets a poem.
Attention to narrative structure, discontinuity/continuity, rhythm in editing and sound, image/sound relationship.


Required
• It must be at least 1 minute in duration.
• Original audio only
• Output: QT movie, DV or animation compression
• Size: 720x480 or 320x480
Software: Options may include: Illustrator, Photoshop, Final Cut

Student Art Exhibition

Dear All,

Please check-out the email I sent with attached submission form for the Student Exhibition. It is an outside-curated show and also has (cash) awards. Submissions are due next week. I am asking you all to submit your works (project 1 or 2 or both) to the competition. All you need to do is copy your .mov files onto DVD. After the submission date, we will be covering how to set up DVDs to run with or without a menu- for exhibition display.

The TCNJ 2009 Student Art Exhibition will be April 8-22.
Submissions are due: March 26, 27 or 29

All students who have taken or are taking an Art Department course in the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 academic years are eligible to apply.
